Warwickshire County Boundary
The WCA covers the area of the
Traditional County of Warwickshire (pre-1974) corresponding to the Collier Definition as incorporated into
the Constitution of the WCA.
The County of West Midlands was itself created
nearly 40 years ago and many people are no longer familiar with the
old county, hence further explanation may help.
In 1974 the City of Birmingham (itself
a self-administering Borough of the County), the City of Coventry, Solihull and Sutton Coldfield were
all transferred over from Warwickshire and into the West Midlands
County (itself now an officially recognised geographical and
ceremonial county).
So in addition to the following towns that are still
part of today's County of
Warwickshire:
Nuneaton Rugby Leamington
Spa Warwick Stratford-upon-Avon Kenilworth Bedworth Atherstone Coleshill Shipston-on-Stour Southam
The old Traditional County of Warwickshire included
the following cities and towns (since 1974 these are all now in the
County of West Midlands):
City of Birmingham
City of Coventry
(historically was actually a separate county in its own right and
therefore not part of Warwickshire) Solihull Sutton
Coldfield
