National County Under 100 Chess Championship Semi Final on 19 June 2010

Captain's Report and Match Result - Warwickshire vs Yorkshire

Home Venue: Selston Parish Hall, Notts

Warwickshire played at home (neutral venue was agreed) against Yorkshire who had progressed from the quarter finals after Kent defaulted the match.

The great news is that our Warwickshire U100s are through to the National Final after a comfortable victory of 7.5 vs 2.5 over Yorkshire!!

There were points lost by default on both sides, with the date appearing to be particularly difficult to get full teams to play on - we defaulted two boards while Yorkshire defaulted three.

In the match, the first to finish was Sam Doran with a nice mate and the last to finish was Paul Munro who, after losing his way in the middle, pulled back to end the afternoon with a draw.

The final result was not really a surprise, as Yorkshire having already given us a one point lead by default were also massively outgraded across the boards.

Well done to everyone!!  Now the team can savour a place in the finals - click here for details.

Board Colours: Warwickshire played White on Odd board numbers, while Yorkshire had White on Even boards.
